Bloomington Public Schools is a dynamic learning organization with a rich history of academic success. Today, we are charged with preparing students for a future that will be vastly different than faced by previous generations. Never has it been more critical for students to graduate with a clear plan for their future. No matter what path a graduating student may take, possessing knowledge, skills, and attitudes conducive to continued personal development are paramount.
Preparing students for the future is no small task. The public expects and deserves results. At the same time, public resources for schools have become increasingly scarce. Bloomington has become more diverse, calling for differentiated learning opportunities to ensure student success, and demands on teachers and school administrators have risen commensurately in the midst of these changes. If students are to graduate with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes to position them for a successful future, schools must work in partnership with parents and the community to marshal the available resources toward this common vision. While there is no single roadmap to guide schools and communities in planning for their future and that of their children, there are evidence-based practices that have proven to be more effective than others in achieving high student outcomes.
Bloomington Public Schools has developed learning opportunities for children from birth to graduation that integrates these research-based best practices in a comprehensive educational program we’ve labeled the Pathways to Graduation framework.
